Shane Madsen is a private instructor here at Lake Geneva House of Music with 3 years of lesson instruction experience and over 20 years of playing. He’s a current member of the rock band Lines Of Loyalty (previously known as Mixed Company), is endorsed by Scorpion Percussion, hosts open mic events, and is with us every day of the week teaching both in person and virtual lessons to students as young as 5 years old. Haven Wells, a Rockford, Illinois native, has been sharing her passions through writing, teaching, and performing for local venues, fundraisers, and events, as well as various nursing homes since she was 8 years old. Haven graduated as a member of the Tri-M National Music Honors Society from Harlem High School in 2013, and graduated from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wiscosnin cum laude class of 2017 with her Bachelors in Music Education and Performance.
From piano, guitar, ukulele, trumpet, violin, percussion, and vocals, you can now find her performing locally around Kenosha, Wisconsin with her band “Miss B Haven,” instructing private lessons at the Havenly Arts Studio, hosting open mics and creative workshops, or at Dimensions of Learning Academy teaching general music to grades K-8, as well as Middle School orchestra, choir and beginner string lessons. Opening Havenly Arts Studio in partnership with the Kenosha Creative Space in July of 2020, she has now extended her outreach as a private instructor and creative workshop facilitator at the Lake Geneva House of Music. Her teaching style is upbeat, modern, and engaging for students of all ages and skill levels, and her love for the arts shines through in her interactions with everyone from parents to students to colleagues.
With over 20 years’ experience, Jeff’s musical career has taken him to some interesting places. Playing with different groups ranging from R&B, pop, metal, folk, and electronic music, his love for sounds knows no bounds. Drums are his main instrument, but his experience with piano, guitar, bass, and vocals makes him a synergistic expert. Having toured domestically and internationally for the past five years, Jeff’s knowledge of the music world has grown immensely.
Jeff does private student lessons as well as being the lead instructor for our youth band, which meets every Wednesday for 2.5 hours. Signing up for our youth band includes weekly 40 minutes of lessons with a private instructor. Contact us for more info!
Kathy attended The Modern Music School, an esteemed institution in Cleveland, Ohio in addition to earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at the University of Maryland. Her private study was done under the renowned pianist, Pat Pace.
She is an incredible pianist and vocalist that plays an average five performances a week around our community in a variety of venues and at private engagements. She brings the beauty of her playing regularly to both Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan, WI and Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, where she’s been entertaining as part of the Red Rocking Pianos duo and a as soloist for over fifteen years. As an international piano entertainer, she has played all over the globe in 5-star hotels in Europe, the Far East and the Caribbean on top of being a lounge headliner on the Royal Caribbean & other Celebrity Cruise Lines.
Kathy’s teaching is deeply rooted in her quality education and her passion for performing. Her international experience and talents continue to inspire our students. We feel privileged to have such a seasoned professional musician and instructor as an important member of our team here at the House!
Jeannette King is a country-pop singer currently living in Wisconsin and recording original music in Nashville working independently on an upcoming EP. Jeannette has been a part of the Chicago cover band scene for over 10 years, and when she isn’t performing the Illinois native teaches vocals, dance, and tutors a teenager with special needs. Jeannette released her original debut single “Downgrade” in 2019, which was featured on Chicago’s Big 955.5 & Milwaukee’s FM106.5!
Fred was exposed to the sounds of Jimi Hendrix and Muddy Waters at a young age and frequently wailed on air guitar, especially after hearing the chugging riffs of Metallica on MTV as a teenager. At the age of 14, Fred had found his favorite thing to do and rounded up others to jam with. Even from the start, Fred has always had an intensity that translates to quality music and good vibes.
After playing in high school groups, writing, recording, and personal study, Fred attended Columbia College Chicago following Judson Brown for his Bachelor of Arts. He studied jazz with Bill Boris, Peter Saxe and the late, great Frank Dawson. Now he can be found instructing private lessons with Lake Geneva House of Music and performing with the band Bella Cain.
Dave Dohearty is a professional music instructor serving southeastern Wisconsin, having taught hundreds of students of all ages and ability levels. His lesons have an emphasis on performance, theory, improvisation, technology, and run the gamut stylistically from rock and metal, to blues, jazz and latin music. A 2006 graduate of LA Music Academy, Dave had the opportunity to study with some of the most highly regarded musicians and educators in the Los Angeles area including: Frank Gambale (Chick Corea, Jean Luc Ponty), Steve Fister (Lita Ford, Pat Travers, Steppenwolf), Phillip Bynoe (Steve Vai), Art Renshaw (Joe Pass) Brad Rabuchin (Ray Charles) and Mike Shapiro (Earth Wind and Fire, Sergio Mendes). Dave has also co-wrote curriculum for Todd Greene Music Studios in Burlington, and for the Kenosha Conservatory of Music’s Rock Band Class.
Lara Bell is a rising singer/songwriter from the northern Illinois area. Born and raised with country roots, she is a natural songbird and performer. She’s played numerous live shows between Chicagoland and Southern WI at various known venues since she was 16 years old, solo and with her band. She is an accomplished musician of classical piano, guitar, and ukulele. Her genre diversity captures the crowd’s attention at all her shows. Able to adapt to many styles, audience members have compared Lara‘s music to Jewel, Miranda Lambert, Brandi Carlile, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Stevie Nicks, amongst others. A musician, actor and aspiring composer, Chris Andrew is a performance artist with a BFA in Music and Theatre from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. He began basic rhythm classes at pre-school age, transitioning into piano and accelerating to an advanced performance level when studying under Sergei Marchukov in college, where Rachmaninov and Liszt were the focus of his studies. Beginning guitar with rockabilly melodies from the likes of John Prine and Steve Goodman, he has grown to embrace fingerstyle guitar, gypsy jazz and rock. A grounding in music theory and an addiction to new music led him to explore composition and his own songwriting. He has performed at open mic, busking and festival sessions around Pittsburgh and the Chicago area.
Chris has performed professionally in and around Chicago, as well as West Virginia University and Brown County Playhouse. Chris has been involved in all aspects of theatre, starting with an entrepreneurial group targeted to teens and young performers, Hatbox Theatrix in Elmhurst, Illinois. There, he staged, music directed and coached youth groups in abridged performances of popular musicals.He has taught acting, piano, guitar and voice in private and group settings. Suzanne Stalker is an Opera/Jazz singer and actress from the Northern Illinois area. Her love of music began at a young age with piano recitals and singing with her family. She discovered musical theater in her late teens and has performed with several community theater companies in the Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin area over the years. She has sung all over the US with various choirs as well as internationally including countries like Canada, Norway & Singapore, to name a few. She has been teaching piano and voice for over ten years and believes in nurturing a passion for music that will last a lifetime.
